Riders of the Week 2/26-3/3

G 'Fun' Team:

G Team Juniors:Brandon Kirkland
Brandon is consistent in every area of his riding, from always being at practice to always challenging himself and setting his goals higher. He is also one of the most persistent kids we know, never giving up on himself or his goals as a rider. Great job Brandon!

G Team:Connor Schumacher
Connor never gives up and has the unique quality of pushing through every challenge thrown at him. His persistence as a rider has brought his snowboarding to a new level this season as he continues to define his own riding style.

Riders of the Week 2/19-2/25

G 'Fun' Team: 

Tuesday:  Jacob Stoffel  Jake has had a great attitude all year and is very supportive of his team mates. He is a super shredder in the park,  hitting all of the jumps and boxes.

Thursday:
 Carter Bell Carter always works hard at the park and is a great listener.  He's really been improving a lot this season!  Keep it up. 



Sat. AM:
Issac Gauderman Issac started of with our group  and left to get further instruction and came back a better rider. Even when he thought of giving up, he made up his mind to keep on going. It took courage to stay with the program and he proved to himself and his team he could do it! Coach Jim

Sat. PM: Leah Chicoine Leah worked hard this season. Its great to see her trying jumps and boxes in the park!!  Keep it up! 



Sunday:
Alex Galbreath Alex has shown much improvement over the year and continues to impress every week. He is a confident rider and it shows in his ability to learn new things. 

G Team Juniors: Manny Lulavy 
Manny is having a phenomenal first season on his alpine board as he learns the finer points of alpine riding. When Manny is on course he is focused on improving his riding, while off course he is supporting his team mates and having a blast with the alpine crew. Nice work Manny!

G Team: Trevor Gumm 
This season Trevor is an unstoppable force, always on his game, all the time. Trevor is at every practice, always pushing him self hard to achieve the goals for the day. Rock on Trevor!
 

Riders of the Week 2/12-2/218

G Team: 
Alex Westburg
Alex's coaches chose her as rider of the week for her positive attitude and persistence this season.  This is Alex's first year on the alpine team and she comes to every practice happy and ready to learn something new, she also started competing this season and has been putting up some great times on the course. Great job Alex!

G Team Juniors: Julian Kidd
Julian always comes to practice to take on a new challenge and do it with a great attitude. He is also one of the most friendly riders you could ever meet and he always brings a good attitude and lively conversation. This season Julian has conquered new challenges like the tow rope and he started competing. Great work Julian!

G 'Fun' Team:

Tuesday:  Mason
Mason has been pushing himself all season and keeps progressing even after taking a few hard falls.

Thursday: Tyler Hayes
Tyler is rider of the week this week because he has improved on his rail riding skills tremendously this year.  I have seen a lot of improvement in his confidence with rails as well.

Riders of the Week 2/5-2/11


G Team: Ford Brandau
Ford has high expectations for himself and works hard on meeting each of them. His passion for snowboarding is apparent in how much time and focus he pours into his riding. The results of his hard work are apparent to his coach and fellow riders as they have seen his clean riding style emerge this season. Great job Ford! 

G Team Juniors: 
Jake Lundberg
This season Jake's coach has seen the results of this rider's focus and work ethic as Jake's own signature riding style has started to emerge. One of Jakes cleanest tricks is his front 3 indie over the table jump. Jake delivers this trick with confidence and style. Nice work Jake!

G 'Fun' Team:


Tuesday:Jacob Stoffel
Jake has had a great attitude all year and is very supportive of his team mates. He is a super shredder in the park,  hitting all of the jumps and boxes. 

Thursday:

Saturday am: 
Nick Kjolsing
Nick has been really working hard on his jumps and grabs.  This week I saw Nick go higher than I've ever seen him, boosting off the jump next to the air mail.  I think he did a great job putting his fears aside and really trusting his ability.  Great job Nick. 


Saturday pm: 
Jadon
Jadon is the rider of the week because he is a true leader. His back flips have inspired his teammates to take their riding to a new level.

Sunday: Sydney
Sydney comes to practice every week with a smile on her face. She has a wonderful personality. She gets along with all the riders very well. Sydney works very hard on each drill we do. She has progressed phenomenally this year. She can carve up any run at Hyland both toe side and heel side. Today she was linking turns carving all the way down with little or no skidding. She even took a run at a jump. When we ran the border cross course she jumped right in despite having an upset stomach. She is a trooper.

Riders of the Week 1/29-2/4


G 'Fun' Team':

Tuesday: Max Bonner  
has accomplished many of the  goals we have talked about in the beginning of the year. He would be great using his skills in competitions.  
 

Thursday: Kirk Boyd has been making outstanding progress on everything from jumps to rails.

Saturday am: 
Annika Helgeson
has demonstrated her ability to learn things quickly and not be afraid to try new things. I am continually  surprised at her ability to pick up new skills and go after them fearlessly. She has kept up with the boys in the group. As a bonus, her snowboard etiquette is also excellent. 

Saturday pm: Kenadi is a strong rider. She shows up for practice consistently and always tries her best. This week she learned ollies!! She is always progressing. She is fun to have on the team!!

Sunday: Callie Lagerquist leads by example! She continuously comes to practice early and shows respect to everyone. When it's time to strap in Callie rides all types of terrain goofy and switch. Also, today she attempted some new boxes successfully.  


G Team Juniors: Luke Allen
Luke gets Rider of the Week for his confident riding style and desire to try any new trick. He recently won his groups latest contest at practice: the switch back side regular out contest! Nice work Luke!

G Team: 
Matt Wasson
Matt is charging hard this season adding tricks to his quiver such as switch 3's and 180's on rails. Matt shows up to practice with  an amazing attitude ready to be creative with the practice time. His coach praised him for initiating his own ideas for new tricks and going for each! Nice job Matt!

Riders of the week 1/22-1/28

G 'Fun' Team:

Tuesday- Martha
Martha has a controlled and methodical approach to shredding the hill. She is willing to tackel boxes and jumps outside of her comfort zone. She excellent use of body positioning guides her through the turns and keeps her in control in the park.

Thursday- 
Carter
Carter is very progressive in the park and very solid in his riding over-all.

Sat. A.M.- 
Sabrina Essma
Sabrina is rider of the week because of her focus and improvement!  She has been doing great with working on her linking turns and staying in control.  She also expressed interest in trying some small features in the park and has been doing them confidence and ease!  She looks like a pro!  She has a great attitude and gets along well with both Max and Amelia!

Sat. P.M.- Kelly
She has demonstrated vast improvements from day one and each week continues to challenge herself. Going from never snowboarding a day in her life to carving a black diamond and going over rails is pretty remarkable. Kelly is a very fast learner and she should be proud of her accomplishments this year.



Sun.- Sam Goldman
He's a great shredder and was killing the Ollie 180's. He always listens, never complains and he's really fun to be around.

G Team Juniors:Elijah Yoho
Elijah has taken on new challenges this season including tackling two disciplines of snowboarding while bringing  great attitude to every practice.. On the alpine course Elijah is dialing up the speed of his runs and tuning in his precision while in the park he challenges himself to always try a new trick and work hard. 

G Team: Ted Goltzman
This season Ted has stepped up his commitment to progression in and it showed this past weekend at Wild Mt.. Ted threw down dialed in clean runs that set the bar high for his fellow competitors with a massive frontside 720!!

Riders of the week- 1/15-1/21


Fun Team: Bruce Armstrong 
Bruce had already improved a lot over the winter break but he continues to work really hard. He worked on sharper carving and 180's and even tried a couple of boxes!

Fun Team: Carlos O'Keefe
Carlos is the rider of the week because he is the most improved since our first practice. He's carving so well, he hardly falls, and he's not afraid to try new things. It's so fun to watch him carve (shred) the hill. He's ready to start going off jumps!! 

G Team Juniors:
Zeke Oppeguaard 
Zeke is killing it out on the hill this season! So far Zeke has destroyed the butter box, landing every thing from smooth 3's to controlled 9's on this feature. Not to mention he is always bringing an enthusiastic attitude to practice that challenges the rest of group. Nice work Zeke!

G Team Rider: Charlie Bjork
Charlie is our Hyland Rider of the Week for his consistency on the hill this season. Charlie is not one to waste words and brag about what he is throwing down in the park, he just goes and does it! He is a rider of few words but many actions. Charlie's coach praised him for his attentive attitude. His willingness to take instruction and go after tricks has made him one of the most improved riders of the season so far, Rock on Charlie!

G Team Juniors: 
Kory Laehu
Kory always brings a positive attitude to practice,  he pushes him self to try new tricks at every practice and never gives up on his goal, he just works harder and keeps trying. Rock on Kory! 

G Team Rider: 
Maggie DiMenna 
Maggie is the G Team rider of the Week for her example of hard work and motivation. Maggie is always motivated to try new tricks and goes for every new challenges without hesitation. She brings her persistence and work ethic to every practice and conquers the hill. Great job Maggie!

Riders of the Week- Week 5 1/2/12

G Team Rider:
Spencer Holman
Dedicated, that is the first adjective Spencer's coach used to describe Spencer and his riding style. Spencer is our G Team Hyland Rider of the Week for persistent attitude and dedication to progressing in his snowboarding. Rock On Spencer!!

G Team Junior Rider:Cooper Voita
Cooper brings humor and camaraderie to his fellow team mates, always shows up to practice to play hard and work hard. Cooper's latest accomplishment on the hill was landing every trick he through down on the mini jump line. Nice work Cooper!

G "Fun" Team Rider:
Connor Spang 
 Tuesday 12/13: Connor has done an outstanding job on mastering all the features in the small park and had built a lot of confidence for the whole group.
G "Fun" Team Rider:  Carter Bell
Thursday 12/15: Carter listens well, and rides better. He learned carving fast and is doing it very well.

G "Fun" Team Rider: Owen McAllister Saturday am 12/17: Owen is always ready to try something new. When he falls he is ready to try again until he gets it right. Owen has a never quit attitude and is working extra hard to be the best boarder possible.

G "Fun" Team Rider: William Hoyt
Saturday pm 12/17: Will tried a ton of new stuff! He hit the pencil & the jump for the first time.  He did awesome!!

G "Fun" Team Rider:
Bode Williams
Sunday 12/18: The G fun team rider of the week is Bode! Bode has improved on a couple of different skills. He has learned how to ride switch almost as good as his goofy stance. Bode can now perform switch tow and heel edge turns and he also learned to do a switch 180°. Riding switch now allows him to ride up the tow rope since the only way he can use the rope is in a regular stance. Today was also his first time he has ridden the park tow rope all the way to the top!

G "Fun" Team Rider: Tyler Hayes
Thursday 12/8: Tyler Hayes: He loves popping ollies, his energy and and excitement makes practice awesome! 

G "Fun" Team Rider: Sabrina Essma
Sat AM:  Sabrina  Essma.  She started off really struggling with toe side but kept asking questions and working very hard and by the end of practice she was able to make almost all the way down south doing toe side falling leaf! It was great!  She still needs to work on it but she never gave up and worked very hard. All her hard work and positive attitude was awesome!   Thanks!

G "Fun" Team Rider: Max Kelly
SatPM:  Max Kelly is rider of the week because he is already perfecting his FS 360's with some major air... sick!

G "Fun" Team Rider: Erin Long
Sunday: Erin Long was rocking tornadoes today. It was so fun seeing her nail them. She tries hard on every drill no matter how "boring ". She never says boo about any of them.  Erin is also a very well spoken and friendly young lady. She is a joy to talk to.  I am looking forward to watching this young rider learn to and rock out riding switch

G Team Rider: Alicia Tong
Alicia Tong made the Rider of the Week for her enthusiasm, kindness and leadership skills! This weekend at Welch Village Alicia entered her first Alpine competition and took to the course with enthusiasm and drive. She also made time to cheer on all her fellow alpine riders and showed true leadership by encouraging riders after a tough run through the course! We are proud of you girl!

G Team Junior Rider: Zac Lundberg
Zac Lundburg is the G Team Jr.'s Rider of the Week! It's only the beginning of the season and Zac is already setting high standards for riding! This weekend at Welch Village Zac put down some impressive times on the Alpine course. Zac made riding on ice look easy and he ended each run with a smile on his face. Way to rock the course Zac!

Rider of the Week -  Week 1  12/5/11

G Team Rider: Kyle Laehu
Kyle gets Rider of the Week for his awesome vibes and great attitude. Kyle is always in a great mood, even when he doesn't make a trick.  He refuses to think negative thoughts, instead Kyle figures out what he needs to improve on and dose it better the next time. Way to go Kyle!

Junior Rider: Luke Paster
Luke has been very focused and committed. He's been working hard on his riding and being a great team player. Right now he's preparing to hit the upcoming competitions. Watch for him this coming season!

G "Fun" Team Rider: Carson Bell
Carson progressed quickly through the nights lessons, mastering his toe-side edge and stops!

G "Fun" Team Rider: Austin Spratt
Austin stomping backside board slides while getting some dirty tail presses on his first time out this winter is an impressive achievement. He took a few banger's, but got right back up each time, and shredded harder after each one. Way to go!!

G "Fun" Team Rider: Sarah McCallon
During her first practice with G Fun Team, Sarah showed us all what a great attitude she has. She learned very quickly the tricks to getting off the chair lift. And, she started applying the edging skills that she has been using in hockey, to her riding technique. She's really rocking those heel-side turns, and is moving on to linking to her toe-side. Great job, Sarah!

G "Fun" Team Rider: Jack Lanner
Jack immediately picked up his toe edge and completed all drills & showed improvement. He recently took his first jump! Jack is a very determined rider who knows if he falls (usually gracefully) he just has to pick himself up and keep going.
